GLOBE's Constitution was first adopted in 1990. The current Constitution was approved by the International Board during the meeting held on 14 January 2013. The Constitution will be ratified by the next AGM, which will be held in September 2013.

DESCRIPTION, ORGANISATION, OFFICE AND SCOPE

GLOBE International (also known as “Global Legislators Organisation for a Balanced Environment”, “GLOBE” or “Global Legislators Organisation”, and referred to hereafter in this Constitution as “GLOBE”) is a non-profit making international inter-parliamentary organisation of national legislators originally founded in 1989 (Article 1) 

MISSION

GLOBE’s mission is to promote international cooperation among legislators to strengthen their role in protecting and enhancing domestic, regional and global environments (Article 6). 

MEMBERSHIP

GLOBE is comprised of three membership categories: 

1. National Membership comprising National GLOBE Chapters;

2. Individual Membership comprising national legislators (where a national GLOBE organisation does not exist);

3. Regional Membership comprising Regional GLOBE Chapters.

(Article 10)
The admission of membership to GLOBE under any of the three membership categories is by application to the President of GLOBE. This application can be accepted by the President subject to formal ratification by the GLOBE Board. Members (under any of the three categories) are not required to pay any membership fees to GLOBE (Article 11).
