In January 2013, GLOBE legislators convened in London for the 1st GLOBE Climate Legislation Summit which was held at the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office. Following the Summit, the International Secretariat of GLOBE International has agreed to publish and update a forward programme on this website. The following programme has been reviewed after the summits held in Berlin (June 2013), Beijing (July 2013), Warsaw (November 2013) and last updated on 29 September 2014. Please sign up to our newsletter if you wish to be notified of future events.

27-28 February

2nd GLOBE Climate Legislation Summit, Senate of the United States of America, Washington DC

The Summit follows the 1st Climate Legislation Summit held in at the UK Foreign Office in London in January 2013. Hosted by Senator Markey, the Summit will see the launch of the Partnership for Climate Legislation between GLOBE, the United Nations and the World Bank.

Legislators from over 50 countries will receive the 4th edition of the GLOBE Climate Legislation Study of 66 countries.

The High Level Opening Session will include keynote speeches by President Ricardo Anaya Cort├ęs, President of the Congress of Mexico, Dr Robert Orr, Assistant Secretary General of the United Nations, Ms Christiana Figueres, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Mr Achim Steiner, UN Under-Secretary General and Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), Ms Rachel Kyte, Vice President & Special Envoy for Climate Change - World Bank and Ambassador Todd Stern US Special Envoy for Climate Change.

2nd World Summit of Legislators, Mexico City, Mexico

Two years on from the 1st Summit in Rio de Janeiro in 2012, the 2nd World Summit of Legislators will be the world's largest conference of parliamentarians. More than 500 Presidents, Speakers and senior legislators from all the legislative assemblies of the world will participate in a 3-day summit in the Mexican Congress to agree on a major resolution on climate, natural capital and forest legislation to be ratified by parliaments of countries in attendance.

GLOBE COP20/CMP10 Legislators Summit Lima, Peru

At COP20/CMP10 in Lima, GLOBE will convene the 3rd Forest Legislation Summit with legislators from over 20 countries and lead side events on Climate Legislation and Natural Capital to present progress in 2014. GLOBE will also coordinate a series of ministerial meetings with key countries for legislators.
